Sergei Tchoban: Between Timelayers

Istanbul Bilgi University is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and is presenting the exhibition ‘Sergei Tchoban: Between Layers of Time’ to mark the occasion. As part of the exhibition, Sergei Tchoban will give a lecture at the Energy Museum on campus.

‘Between Layers of Time’ is dedicated to the dialogue between historical and contemporary layers of time in urban space and is divided into two sections – “Drawings” and ‘Buildings’.

The section “Drawings” explores the relationship between past and present by adding contemporary layers to Giovanni Battista Piranesi's etchings.

The ‘Buildings’ section focuses on spatial and cultural sustainability and presents projects that deal with historical contexts, some of which are controversial.
