The ageing building had a solid shell, so the architects decided on a sustainable renovation and use of the existing shell in order to preserve the grey energy used for its construction.

As a result of the modernisation and conversion measures, office units were created across the entire area. The remodelled factory is now home to offices, businesses and creative companies.

The exterior design of the building is a reference to its original use and plays a key role in the naming of the modern Tuchfabrik business centre. Oversized, brightly coloured bundles of threads, digitally printed on aluminium sandwich panels, run horizontally and vertically along the façade and form a fabric.
