The Pacamara residential building in the centre of Hamburg's HafenCity speaks a clear and varied architectural language.

Two building volumes form a shared perimeter block and residential courtyard, which is around two metres above the outside level and forms a sheltered, semi-public mound.

Three openings create a connection to the public space:

Towards the boulevard, an impressive four-storey window opens above the plinth zone and creates a view and connection with a large balcony above the boulevard. The upper edges of the block rise to the south-east towards the square in front of the old harbour office and to the north-west.

A three-storey window forms a visual connection to the office building opposite to the north.

An opening on the western side completely separates the building structure and provides access to the residential courtyard from street level.

The façades reflect the clearly structured floor plans, which open up to the sun across the entire western and southern width of the building and to the Magdeburg harbour in the east.
