The central motif of the design was the creation of a residential quarter that is oriented towards the clarity and grace of the Hanseatic traditions of the 20/30s and develops them further in a contemporary way. The result is a calm brick ensemble with classic façade proportions and a horizontal character.

A total of 175 residential units were built in four houses. Varied façades were created through variations of brick and their jointing, colour and plasticity. Furthermore, balconies playfully placed around the buildings created significant views with an exciting spatial effect.

The façades have a classic base-body-head structure and are made of typical local brick in a reddish-brown colour.

Stepped cornices are used to reinforce the horizontality and structure of the façade. The perforated façades are thus combined to form horizontal bands.
