The ensemble consists of two six-storey buildings, which are connected via a shared underground car park. House 1 (H1), located on Salomon-Heine-Weg, opens towards the water with its comb-like structure, while the adjacent eastern House 2 (H2) encloses a four-sided internal courtyard.
Attractive outdoor spaces in the form of enclosed and semi-enclosed courtyards link the ensemble and function as a “third place”, creating spaces that invite people to linger and work. Green roofs, extensively planted courtyards and the restoration of a biotope underline the project’s ecological quality.
In addition, private roof terraces are provided for tenants on the lower roof levels. All terraces are west-facing, reinforcing the spatial connection with the green areas within the campus as well as with the green corridor along the Tarpenbek.
Both buildings take their design cues from classical industrial architecture. Building height, orientation, materiality, colour palette and formats create a coherent overall appearance without making the two structures identical. The defining façade material is a light-coloured facing brick.
