In Hanover, not far from the Seelhorster forest, a barrier-free quarter has been created that combines communal living and a diverse range of services for all generations and stages of life.

The willow church, a living nave on the site consisting of around 3,000 willow rods, is a symbol of the new neighbourhood. The design for the four-part residential ensemble takes the character of the pergola-like plant structure as a source of inspiration: Its open, curved structure is reflected in the interlocking public areas.

The ensemble consists of three four- to five-storey volumes and a solitary building and is characterised by a coherent, clear geometry and uniform surface materials. The perforated façades are clad in warm-coloured clinker brickwork. Inclusion was at the forefront of the planning and design: all buildings have a multifunctional utilisation concept and all flats are barrier-free.
