TCHOBAN VOSS Architekten have developed a holistic concept for the energy-efficient refurbishment of the B150 administration tower block of SKF GmbH in Schweinfurt, which on the one hand fulfils contemporary energy requirements and on the other hand contributes to the corporate identity of the company.

The main idea of the facade design was to maintain and further develop the existing appearance. In this way, the existing façade was sublimely recast. The reorganization of the escape stairwells improves the escape route situation and avoids the stairwell shading office areas.

The façade of the access core, like the bow façade, was clad in expanded metal. The result is the formation of an elegant frame, which continues to integrate the technical floor in the roof area. The remaining facade areas on the south side are designed as a smooth, homogeneous surface like a monitor.

At night, the ‘SKF’ company logo on the monitor façade is illuminated by lights in the window and parapet areas. In addition to the project planning, TCHOBAN VOSS Architekten coordinated as general planners all the specialist planners involved.
