Three former bunkhouses in the HAPAG shipping company's former emigrant town were rebuilt. A further three buildings were stylized through the surrounding green area in order to make the spatial context of the previous development tangible with the newly constructed buildings.

The main entrance is in the first house. The covered courtyard serves as a spacious foyer, in the middle of which a showcase is embedded at floor level. The “lid” is made of walkable glass. An architectural model of the entire complex at the time is exhibited here.

All buildings are designed in a U-shape and each consist of two wings grouped around open courtyards. In two buildings, the open courtyard to the north was additionally built over in order to provide sufficient exhibition space. The aim of the planning was to restore the external and internal appearance of the original building.
