At this location, C&A is uniting its German head office, its European logistics and IT subsidiary and the Duesseldorf-based part of its European central purchasing department under one roof. The architectural design of the C&A headquarters continues the masterplan developed for the entire site by BRT Architekten, Hamburg.
The division of the ensemble into four individual buildings responds to the building rhythm along a central green axis. Towards the south-east, the complex dissolves into smaller structures and leaves space for a landscaped green area, which in turn is shielded from the adjacent Bahnstrasse by a slightly curved car park block. The transparent connecting structure serves as a link, culminating in a spacious lobby at the intersection with the central access axis.
The parapets and pillars of the four main structures are clad in screen-printed glass. Depending on the viewing angle, an interplay of reflection and plasticity is created, lending the building a lively lightness.
