A new hotel was built by the French hotel group B&B Hotels with 182 rooms on the site of the former Carl Kuehne KG production site in Hamburg-Altona.

In dialogue with the existing development, a massive six story plastered building was created with a meandering ribbon façade in the area of the hotel rooms. The base zone, planned as a glass joint, accommodates various retail areas in addition to the hotel entrance, lobby and other public areas.

Inspired by neighboring façades that contrast in color and sculpturally, the window bands are framed with frame-like passe-partouts made of white aluminum, giving the building its own characteristics. The south façade was designed as a “negative” to the main façades with dark plaster panels on a white background.
