Renovation, façade redesign and modernization of an office and retail building

Situated in Hamburg's central shopping district, the 70's premises had to undergo a substantial modernization. The new, “intelligent” clima-active glass cladding of the main façade was divided into a three storeyed base of structural glazing and, above, a curtain wall with controllable glass louvers. A careful re-design of the building's interior completed its image-upgrading. Inside and outside thus become an integrated unit, interacting through the new transparent shell.
